Research Question:

Will there be an increase in visual motor integration, quality of handwriting, and fewer behaviors associated with sensory problems after 8 weeks of Therapeutic Listening?

Participants:  

11 children ages 6-10, all will have SI dysfunction and visual motor delay

Design:  

  • Pre-test/post-test design with two initial baseline measures.   Subjects act as own controls.
  • 4 weeks of SI, then 8 weeks of Therapeutic Listening
  • OTs scoring assessments will be blind

Instruments:  

  • Sensory Profile
  • Developmental test of Visual and Motor Integration (VMI)
  • Draw-a-person (DAP)
  • ETCH (handwriting assessment)

Preliminary Results:

Expect results early 2005
